Karina Piranio

Karina Piranio is a vibrant 29-year-old with Down Syndrome. She’s found a medical home at the Clinic where Dr. Rubal is her primary provider. Karina had exhibited complex symptoms which were identified as Down Syndrome Regression Disorder (DSRD). A rare condition, Karina was the seventh person in Orange County to receive this diagnosis. “Dr. Rubal was a strong advocate, opening the doors for Karina to receive the specialized care she needed from Dr. Jonathan Santoro, known for his pioneering treatment of DSRD at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. The care and treatment Karina is receiving has dramatically improved her life”, says Karina’s mom, Lisa.

Kelli Davies

Kelli Davies found a friend and trusted physician in Dr. Tom Bent. She presented with numerous bleeding ulcers and related complications. As Dr. Bent’s retirement approached, Kelli was provided with a warm transition into the care of Dr. Rubal. From the beginning, Kelli has demonstrated the importance of patient participation, often bringing records, test results, and prepared questions to her appointments. “I know how to advocate for myself, I just needed a partner and I found that in the doctors at the Clinic”, says Kelli. “I just feel so comfortable here. Everyone is friendly, caring and extremely knowledgeable.“

Naeim & Safia Popal

Naeim & Safia Popal love to walk through the gardens and parks of Laguna. Retired from a career as an international singer, songwriter and composer, Naeim was hesitant about seeing a doctor, but his wife Safia convinced him that together they would both make a trip to the Clinic. Safia receives care for her pre-diabetic condition as well as pain management. Naeim received life-saving screenings, tests and treatment needed to combat colon cancer. “I’ve always been afraid to go to the doctors and Naeim has always put it off but at the Clinic we found a family. We can’t put into words how grateful we are to Dr. Rubal and his staff,” shared Safia.
